The first is that the gun interacts with the Megastructure's gravity systems and the other is that it has dark matter interactions somehow.

There are two theories about it and one of them was made by Cibo. We honestly have zero idea on how it actually works. The GBE isn't unusable outside of the Megastructure

Timeframes fuck up my perspective on speed to the point where I hate arguing it. I've made a stink about timeframes in animation and manga before and this particular issue happens to fall into that. I'm extremely skeptical of speed and think the vast majority of characters aren't nearly as fast as they've been said to be and I'm more inclined to say that GBE shot speeds are supposed to scale with the power setting. Killy has been shown to use lower power shots at rapid fire before too back in the early parts of the manga GBE shots seem to always have some sort of invisible AoE to them unless the gun itself is at its lowest power setting possible. I don't remember if Sanakan's weapon has a power setting on it or not so if she doesn't then correct me. At another power setting he might not have been able to dodge it without dying because turning the power setting up does some ridiculous stuff. Still, Sanakan shot at Killy and he dodged it. IIRC Sanakan's GBE never had the AoE that Killy's GBE had at its base power setting so that may or may not effect how fast the shot actually flies. There's also no accounting for what materials were used in which areas of the City since the Megastructure is fuck-huge.Īs far as I know the City's walls' best durability feat was no-selling a space ship that basically telefragged it, only for the ship to be destroyed entirely because, well, even with a warp drive there's just so much City that it's inescapable.Įither Killy is really fast when it comes to evasion, Sanakan's GBE isn't as fast as it looks, or the flight speed of GBE shots is inconsistent. Still, I highly doubt one could make a sound argument that the GBE's shots can bypass any durability you can think of just because the walls of The City no-sold almost anything else that could be conceptualized as a weapon. I haven't actually read the manga adaptation for the movie adaptation of Blame! and thus can't tell if there are any significant deviations from the movie, but I don't recall a single instance where any GBE shot was tanked by something that wasn't using magnetic shielding or had some weird gravity effect around them in the original manga.
